Hey guys, just bought my first BMW! (please hold applause)
2004 545i Sport e60
Unfortunately, the car won't start! When I turn the key, nothing lights up on the dash or HUD. The radio will turn on and the lights will turn on, but nothing on the dash. No check engine light, no ABS light, no lights of any kind whatsoever. There is also no clicking or any sounds when I turn the key. :bawling:
First I checked the battery***8230;. good battery. Reading through the forums, I thought it was a bad ignition switch so I changed that out and the car still won't start. Then I checked all the fuses, and no blown fuses. Now my last option is that it could be just a bad relay (maybe starter or ignition relay).
However, I cannot seem to find a relay diagram for the car. If anyone has a relay diagram, please let me know. If anyone has experienced anything similar, please let me know.
Thank you in advance for all your help.
***UPDATE***
The key was bad. The transponder in the key was not working properly. Ordered new key from dealer (~$200 for one key). Car starting right up. Now I gotta get back on the road!
