First problem: sunroof won't close...

The honeymoon is over boys. My glass roof will not close. If I press the button, or slide it forward, the roof closes and immediately opens again. I can find nothing blocking the channel that might cause it to reverse the closing process.

A quick search did not reveal anyone with a similar problem, but before I make the loooooong drive to the dealer, I thought I'd ask if anyone else has experienced this problem. TIA.

Spyder, try this.

Start the car. Wait for iDrive and all to come up. Then press and hold the sunroof button for at least 15 seconds. The roof will cycle through a complete operation finishing with everything closed up, then release the button. Your antitrap might be buggered.

Good luck.

Couldn't get mine closed right now, kept opening and closing. Hot early summer day, so just trying to let out some heat.. But the 15 press and hold cycle worked. Funny thing is it through a warning after I got it closed.

Not trying to mess around with it right now, have it closed, all I was really worried about at the moment. But the sunshade wouldn't close automatically after the 'reset', had to keep pressing it to get her to go all the way.

Anyway, was about to thank Chuck, but he's banned... lol... sucks, but thanks anyway bro. Was messing around with it for about 20 mins. Figured it was the anti trap, but could find nothing obstructing it. Then I just said screw it, guys on the board will know, and they did!

It worked! Well, at least the sunroof closes, but now the sliding panel is acting odd. It won't slide forward all the way. Rather, it moves forward several inches with each push of the button in the forward direction, even if the push forward is held. But I can live with that until it's convenient to take it in and get a loaner.

Chuck, I hearby take back all the complaints I made about iDrive. Further, I owe you something stronger than a foo-foo drink at the next sixer love-in:bow: :beerchug: :beerchug: :beerchug:

I failed to mention one highlight of the trip up to the meet. I was on the 405 and the cops just shut down the freeway.

I was stopped for about 10 minutes. When traffic finally started moving again I made my way past the issue. It seems some guy decided to have a heart attack and stop his car on the freeway and got out and died. I saw an older Honda (not wrecked) and the dead guy covered in a yellow plastic tarp.

I can't imagine a worse death. Dying ON the 405? :yikes: As if traffic is not bad enough. The good Lord has a funny sense of humor.

I die a little bit every time I get on the 405:cry:

Real Time Traffic might have come in very handy in this situation, Chuck. But it's far from perfect, eg, I was heading east on the 134 after the love-in when RTT promted me for a reroute due a stoppage at the 210. I ignored it and there was no obstruction. So, it's not quite "real time".

Vicious rumor started here... I am sorry to disappoint, but I didn't snap any pics while driving. I am a little crazy, just not stoopid! :loco: Those pics would have been cool though! Maybe next time, not that you guys have put that little evil in my head!

Hey, what about my sunroof?

After a few unsuccessful attempts following Chuck's suggestion, I think I've finally got it working again. The trick is to push the button and hold it long enough for the sunroof to complete a full operating cycle, including motion of the sliding roof panel. Thanks Chuck!

This is why I love this forum! My sunroof wouldn't close just I was getting ready to give the 650 a much deserved bath. No panic, I searched and found the solution to the problem. The sunroof reset routine worked and now the car is clean.

This thread went totally off topic and I did not read the whole thing, but it helped so I give it thumbs up
