Tire Pressure Sensors

It's time to consider snow tires where I live. Has anyone purchased a new set of rims with new tire sensors? They seem fairly expensive here at over $150 each, as they are part of the stem valve. I wonder if there is an alternative other than to forgo them.

If I am not mistaken.... in Canada the TPMS is integrated into the Anti Lock brakes, and you do NOT require a separate sensor on each wheel.
This is the method they have used in the 3/4 Series in Canada, so I can only presume that it is the same for the G30.
To verify this I would suggest you call your SA.
Cheers :D

I've ordered tpms from tire rack at $49 US per unit. Talked to rep at tire rack and he assures me they will work with the Canadian 540. I was also quoted $149 cdn per sensor for OEM part by my tire guys. I should received them this week, and will report back on how they work.

Just put on 17 inch winter tires and rims without TPMs. Reset tire pressure through iDrive system, I kept driving for a few miles to let TPM system measure tire pressure but it stucks at 19%. Dont know whether I drove enough miles. No light or warning on digital cluster except a notification on iDrive.

Wow, you Canucks take penny pinching to a whole new level. You won't spend $250 to $500 to have your $100,000 CDN car work the way its's supposed to? You'll drive 5 or 6 months of the year with a warning on iDrive, ignoring it to the point where you won't notice a serious warning when it pops up? ("Wait, I was low on oil and threw a rod? I thought that was the bloody tire pressure warning still.") And you are willing to use a tire gauge once a week in sub-freezing temps to make sure your tires aren't low on air?

Too many hockey pucks to the head, eh?
