I got a puerto rican neighbor that wants attention everytime he passes by... he straight piped his mustang.. I'd say it sounded ghetto for a nice car and he's an asshole..
On naturally aspirated cars, there needs to be some form of back pressure to ensure the exhaust timing is performing to the tuning specifications BMW made to the engine. Tune they did as well. Straight piping effectively gives you a quick way to detune your engine and add unneeded stress to the timing of the VANOS.
If you want more noise, get a Magnaflow muffler and call it a day. Your car will not be any faster and it will sound like crap with nothing to tone down the resonance and volume of the exhaust.
