What's going on here? Looks like oil is spraying near top of the engine...

I just did mine on the N54. The oil puddle near the filter cap is exactly like mine was. My belt, pulley and alternator had oil on them as well. Your leak is worse but I bet the belt and pulleys are slinging it. There is 2 gaskets to replace on that housing.

After the housing I also fixed the rear oil leak at the Rh side of the valve cover.

Oil filter/cooler gasket replacement is an easy DIY job if you are handy. Just make sure you have the necessary sockets and wrenches before starting. I think I needed to buy an E10 ratcheting wrench when I did it.

This video gives all the details.

When these gaskets leak they typically spray all down the front of the engine and all over the accessory belt. Depending on the age of the vehicle it might make sense to change the belt, tensioner, and idler pulley at the same time. That's what I did.

The item with the green circle on top is the power steering reservoir, which includes an integrated filter. These often leak. If the fluid still looks good you can just replace the o-ring in the cap. Depending on the age of the vehicle and condition of the fluid it may make more sense to just replace the whole reservoir. Just make sure to use Pentosin CHF-11S fluid.

Change it asap that oil has a way of causing the serpentine belt to snap and spew belt pieces. Happened to me5, covered under cpo, but a lot worse than just changing those gaskets now if you can.

I don't know 100 percent where it is coming from I see a little oil on my filter housing , a lot on my alt , and all on my COOLant hoses . I want to email someone a pic so they can see it
Post your pics here so many people can see it. I am sure we will have a better chance at helping you.
