I'm wondering because my CA told me they were going to delay production of my car to get the USB port. However, my hit "scheduled for production" on OC about Feb 25th, and was listed as "Awaiting Transport" this week. So if it takes a couple of weeks to produce the car I think I am not getting the new fetaures. But if they were already working on it and just finished the interior options, maybe I am good?

Urgghh... then if I don't get it I have to go back and get them to install it... but they already upped the price about $300 for the option... so I'll have to negotiate for them to do it for free or close to nothing... and that's no fun.

It takes 4-5 days maximum.

Go back and install what? The USB option. Not possible.

Thanks for the info. Does the dealer installed IPod adapter use a different connection, other than USB? My CA told me they could install the USB cable as an aftermarket accessory if it didn't come with the car, for "about the same price".

It takes 23 hours to make a car. I went on a tour of the Munich factory about 4 weeks ago. However, the 335 is built in Regensburg (about 1 hour north of Munich). I imagine the production time is similar to the other 3 series built in Munich.

Here's a link:

Well, then maybe I did get the 6FL and they were just quick to update the OC. I imagine if they did hold production of mine until the new option was available, then mine would have been one of the first built. Fingers crossed!

Building a car starts in the computer when the car moves into production.

The parts are then ordered/scheduled (BMW uses JIT) and the process begins a day or so later.

Physical assembly is something else so you can count this several ways.
