Yesterday, I was in my office when I received a call from a client asking to reschedule our afternoon appointment to Monday. I said "no problem," eager to get home early on a Friday and be with my family.
On my way home, I was driving on the furthest right lane (lane 4 of a 4-lane highway), minding my own business. Just cruising home.
All of a sudden, I see out of the corner of my eye to my left an SUV moving into me... and then BOOM!!
The other driver slams her 90s Honda CR-V right into my driver side. My head banged my drivers side window and my neck got whipped back and forth. CHP came and wrote up a report, got insurance info, etc.
I'm hurting and very stiff now, but it could have been very very bad. I have a feeling my neck may need a ton of Advil.
I got lucky though. That last split-second, as I saw the other car moving into mine, I yanked my steering wheel toward the highway shoulder to avoid some impact. CHP guys told me that had I not done that, I may have been killed.
I was literally minding my own business on an otherwise open highway going home. She claims that someone cut her off and she smashed into me to avoid it. Maybe it did happen. Maybe it didn't. I didn't see anyone in the vicinity but who knows.
All I know is that I just got this car 3 weeks ago, and now it's all smashed up. I was able to drive it home but it feels off in the back left wheel area.
I remember before I left my office, I saw some bird poop on the windshield (and I just got the car detailed yesterday) saying "God just doesn't want me to have a clean car"... and then 10 minutes later, this.
It's only a car and will be fixed, but damn.
