If they were stick-on stripes, then there is a product called Goo Gone that will probably remove the residual adhesive rather easily. Try it on a very small spot to ensure that it doesn't cause any problems with the pain, but I don't think it would.

Let us know how it goes.

I used the standard Goo Gone in the 3 oz. bottle. I went to their site and noticed that they have a product called Sticker Lift that might also work.

You can buy the standard Goo Gone at any Wal-Mart. You may have to order the Sticker Lift. You may be able to buy it at your local Autozone or Advanced Auto.

So I took a closer look at the lines. Some of them look like they used some sort of paint marker to make guide lines for when they put on the stick on pinstripe. I've notice that the adhesive on the pinstripe removed some of the lines. Now the problem is would goo gone work removing the guide line marks with out damaging the paint?

I don't really know that answer. I don't think it would harm the paint. You could try a small area and apply a small amount with little pressure, wipe it off, assess how well it worked, apply more with a little more pressure, etc. until you either remove the stripes or notice any advserse affects on the paint.

I don't quite understand. Are you saying that it was a success and it did not affect your paint job, or are you saying that it removed the adhesive on the stripes, but you can still see where the pin stripes where?

If not a total success, perhaps a rubbing or polishing compound would remove the residual paint you are referring to. Just be careful with the compounds (especially the rubbing compound) as they can remove good paint if you aren't careful.

Goo Gone doesn't harm the paint. It removes the adhesive from the stripes. But it wont remove the pinstripe guide line that the previous owner painted on so he could like up the pinstripes correctly. The guild line paint is painted over the clear coat so I am going to attempt to do this
to remove the guide line paint since it is painted over the clear coat.

The paint isn't actually fading away. cause some of it can be removed with my nail and under it is the actual paint. but the person who put the actual pinstripes used a paint marker or painted a guide line so the pinstripes would line up perfectly.
